Who knew a simple text message would spark a love story that will last forever. Bereshith at the time lived in Hartford, Connecticut and was working as a nurse practitioner. Mechelle was living in Atlanta, Georgia and was teaching and going to school full-time. It all started when Bereshith was invited to attend his aunt’s graduation ceremony on Saturday, May 19, 2018. It was later that evening at her graduation party that he met Mechelle. Bereshith’s aunt, Lorrin, was one of Mechelle’s students. Mechelle was invited to celebrate Lorrin because they had become very close while she was completing her Master of Public Health. Lorrin mentioned to Bereshith that she wanted him to meet one of her professors. Bereshith thinking in the back of his mind, “how old is this woman if she is one of your professors?” gets up and was escorted to meet Mechelle. As he walks over, he was pleasantly surprised! Bereshith and Mechelle talked for over an hour at the graduation party. They talked so long that as the party was ending Bereshith’s uncle came over and said, "I need for you to hurry up and get her number so you can help me move these tables." Bereshith’s brother was in the background whispering, “What’s taking so long bro, shoot the jay” as he was making basketball shooting gestures. Bereshith recalls not needing but appreciating all the embarrassing support.&nbsp; Bereshith escorted Mechelle to her car and they exchanged numbers. Bereshith immediately threw the seven day rule out the window and sent Mechelle a text message asking her for a late-night dessert at the Cheesecake Factory. After two hours, Mechelle finally responded stating that she would be delighted to continue the conversation. Bereshith and Mechelle stayed at the Cheesecake Factory until it closed that night.&nbsp; Even though Bereshith and Mechelle lived over a thousand miles away from each other, that would not be their last encounter. They went from talking once a day to multiple times a day and for hours. They also had to get creative for their long-distance relationship by doing many virtual Netflix and chill nights. Once a month they took flights to see each other whether it was Bereshith flying to Atlanta or Mechelle flying to Conneticut. Two years into the relationship, Bereshith wanted to propose to Mechelle but the world was hit with a pandemic. Everyone had to shelter in place and most flights were grounded. So instead of flying, Bereshith decided to drive to Georgia from Connecticut because he could not wait any longer. To get to Georgia, Bereshith traveled over 1000 miles, using three cars, and staying at three different hotels. When Bereshith arrived, Georgia was on lockdown so Mechelle would not go anywhere. This made it very hard for Bereshith to do his original well thought out proposal. On Bereshith’s last day, there was a thunderstorm and after the rain settled there was a beautiful rainbow. He knew then that he was not leaving Georgia without proposing and he knew this was the time to ask for her hand in marriage. Bereshith proposed intimately with just the two of them and Mechelle said yes. It’s been a beautiful four years and Mechelle and Bereshith look forward to spending the rest of their lives together and living happily ever Adams.&nbsp;
